Does seeking counselling mean I am weak? Not at all. Seeking counselling or therapy is a brave and proactive step towards taking care of your mental and emotional well-being. It takes courage to acknowledge when you need support and to reach out for help. At Maple Counselling, I believe that seeking therapy is a sign of strength and self-awareness, not weakness. I am here to provide a safe and nonjudgmental space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, and to support you in making positive changes in your life. By seeking counselling, you are showing a commitment to your personal growth and emotional health. It's an empowering choice that demonstrates your willingness to invest in yourself and your overall well-being. I am here to support you every step of the way.

Is counselling confidential?Confidentiality is vital within the counselling profession. However, there are some exceptions to maintaining this, such as risk of harm to yourself or others. We will discuss this further during the initial session.

How long does each therapy session last?An initial 30-minute appointment by telephone is free of charge. This gives you the opportunity to get a feel for how I work and ask any questions you may have. It also gives me the opportunity to ensure I can work with what you are seeking help for. At times, it can be more appropriate to refer or signpost on. Should we decide to work together, each therapy session typically lasts for 50 minutes. This standard session length allows us adequate time to address the issues at hand and work towards positive outcomes. I believe in the importance of providing quality, meaningful therapy experiences, and the 50-minute duration allows for this focused and effective approach. I am dedicated to creating a safe and supportive space for you, and the session length is carefully chosen to ensure that you have the time you need to explore your thoughts, feelings, and emotions in depth. I can deliver short or long-term counselling. We will regularly review our work to ensure you feel you are getting what you need.

What are the costs of counselling sessions?50-minute sessions cost £50. I offer a reduced rate of £40 to trainee counsellors, blue light workers, and full-time students. I ask that you commit to being on time and for making cancellations 24 hours in advance; otherwise, payment is expected in full. Payment can be made by bank transfer before the session or in cash at the session.
